The Things I Couldn't Live Without

It's offical. Monty is one month old now, and I've settled into a schedule that I try to stick to every day. What helps me stick to this schedule? There are a few things that I use, EVERYDAY, and I think are essential to surviving the first month.

My first item, and by far the most used, The Boppy! I use it all day long. Mostly when I breastfeed, but I also use it as a baby positioner for Monty! It works great for tummy time, and he even sleeps in it (on his back) from time to time. While writing this post I visited the boppy website for the first time and realized that you can design your own! How cool is that?

Number two on the list...the mobile in his crib!! I don't use it for bedtime because it's too stimulating for him, instead it works as the perfect 3 minute fix if I need to put him down. I use it when he is being a little fussy and I have to do something like fix my lunch or go to the bathroom. He absolutely loves his mobile, unfortunately the music and movement don't last very long.

Burp cloths come in at number three! I didn't splurge on this one, I actually just bought a pack of cloth diapers from Walmart, and use them as my burp cloths (plus two I borrowed from the hospital).  I have them EVERYWHERE in the house from the crib, to the glider, changing table, the couch, the swing, the kitchen......there is always one within an arms reach.
Next on the list is Monty's swing. The official fancy name is the Graco SweetPeace Newborn Soothing Center - what a mouth full! I try not to put him in it too often, but he usually spends his morning nap in it, and then occasionally some time at night when if he is being extra fussy.

This might seem like an odd one, but a washer and dryer! I do at least one load of laundry a day now, if not two or three on a normal basis. I didn't take a picture for this one, but I'm sure everyone knows what a washer and dryer look like.

My iPhone is next. I haven't downloaded any fancy baby apps, but what I do use in the clock function that is a basic app that came with the phone. It has a stopwatch and timer/alarm built in. I always hit the stopwatch when he is done eating so that I can check to see how long its been since he last ate. I also use the timer when I'm breastfeeding to make sure he doesn't spend too much time on one side or the other (sadly, this has also worked as an alarm clock for me when I accidentally fall asleep feeding him in the middle of the night).
