A Walking Epidural?

My original "birth plan" isn't going as planned (since I originally wanted to do everything naturally), so I've been researching any different options that I might have to keep me closer to my original plans.

First, I would just like to say that I've been doing EVERYTHING that I can think of to try and go naturally before Friday. I've tried doing the dirty with my husband, squats, spicy foods (sorry no castor oil for me), nipple stimulation, and this morning I even got up early take a walk that was over a mile long. So far, I see no real changes - other then being a little sore from all the extra activity.

This leads me back to the real reason for the post. A walking epidural. I unfortunately thought about this after leaving the doctor's office on Monday. But, I know that the labor pains that come with getting induced are much stronger then normal contractions, and that when a women is induced they typically give an epidural at the same time. Which is probably the part of getting induced that bothers me the most. I really don't like the idea of being bed ridden and numb during the whole process. I need to double check with my doctor and hospital, but I really think I want to get a walking epidural (also known as a super-low dose epidural) instead of a normal epidural. The risks are lower, labor is typically faster, and most importantly you are not numb from the waist down. Instead, the epidural acts as a pain buffer, but you can still feel the contractions and most have the ability to walk around and function as normal. This is also a safer route because if something were to go wrong and I needed a c-section, they would simply up my dosage and everything would be fine.
