Monty's 4 Month Update

I have so much to tell. He is really growing in every direction, including his personality. For starters he has been sleeping all the way through the night for a couple of weeks now - YAY. It's amazing how you don't realize how tired you really are until you wake up the next day and its actually light outside.

He is still pretty good about taking naps throughout the day. He doesn't take as many as he used to, but he still naps at least three times a day.

Monty has definitely found his voice. He has been "talking" for a long time now, but he has recently started that high pitched scream. I'm talking about the one, that when it happens in public, you try to cover their mouth and get just a little bit embarrassed - yeah it's that scream. He also sings these days too. That's one of my favorite things he does. If I could type out what it sounds like, it would be something like this...

Oooooo........Ahhhhhh (low to high pitch)......Eeeeeee........Ahhhhh......Oooooo.....you get the picture. I think he is imitating me because I always sing to him.

Monty weighs 15.8 lbs now! He is getting so big, I don't know what I'll do when he gets to be super big, lol. I'm terrified of carrying around a 30 lb baby. Which if he continues to grow at this rate he will be that size by his first birthday - scary huh?

Another thing he does is stand up ALL the time. He has skipped the sitting up stage and gone straight to standing. I recently got him a jumper and he really enjoys it (and so do I because it gives me more free time). He also loves playing with things and figuring out what they do. Another one of his favorites is the crinkle paper that a lot of baby toys have.

He is really starting to get mobile. He doesn't roll all the way over yet, but is really close. He rolls everything over except for one shoulder, but because his legs are always so active he tends to "walk" in circles with the shoulder as the pivot point. When I lay him on his stomach he really kicks and tries to move - his legs do the motion of crawling but his arms are lacking in movement which usually results in him doing a face plant followed by screams.

He drools ALL the time. And I mean ALL THE TIME. In just an hour or so he'll soak through a bib and his shirt. He also puts everything into his mouth, including his hands. He loves to suck on his fingers and fist. I actually have given him cantaloupe twice and he just loves it. His face just lights up and you can tell that its the best thing in the world to him. I have been using a mesh self-feeder and it works really well.

Laughing. I'm not sure if I've posted about this yet, but he laughs a lot now. This is the truly fun part. We've also learned that he's ticklish, so if you tickle his sides just a little bit he'll break out into a giggle. I sometimes do this when he's done his typical face plant (when attempting to crawl) and even though he might be in a not-so-fun position, he will laugh really hard.

Here are two pictures from his 4 month birthday. He was super good all day long, laughing and smiling constantly. Then about 7:15 hit, and he had a meltdown. That's what you see below. I'm a little sad that I didn't get any "happy" pictures for the day - but oh well. Crying is a part of life. (side note: he fell asleep at 7:30 and didn't wake back up - I enjoyed the super early bedtime!)

Notice how his face is turning red, lol
