The Magic Eight Ball....

Lately Matt and I have been talking to the baby, doing our job "as good parents" just like all the baby books say. However, last night it dawned on me. Instead of talking to him we tend to ask him questions and wait for an answer.

One Kick = Yes, Two Kicks = No.

I can't help but think of my baby bump as a Magic 8 Ball now. So after a little belly rub followed by a question we let little Monty decide.

Baby Wish List....

So, there are always things that expectant mothers love, but not always love the price. So, I've started my "wish list". These are things that I may splurge and buy myself, and range anywhere from $20 to $700. The baby will be able to live a perfectly happy life without these items, but there are always a few things that mom's wish they could have.

My first item is the UPPAbaby Stroller. It is priced at $670.00, but after a lot of stroller searching this is the stroller that Matt and I picked out together as our "ideal" stroller. Our main concern with strollers was the handle-bar height. Just about every stroller is adjustable in height, however most of them start to get a little flimsy once they are fully extended. This one was very sturdy at every stage and adjustment.

The Ju-Ju Be All Diaper Bag, finding the right diaper bag is insanely hard. I've looked at a million of them, ranging from $20 to $300, and this one has impressed me the most. It's average priced at slightly over $100 but has tons of features that I love such as: a large cell phone pocket, a built in sunglass case, its completely washable, has "crum holes" that you can empty the crums in the bottom of the bag out of.....and a zillion other things.
This one isn't really a splurge, but more of a choice. I want to use G Diapers instead of the normal disposable diapers. They are a hybrid between the classic cloth diaper and a disposable diaper. They are also organic, and have great reviews and friend referrals.

I originally found this in Alexandria and feel in love with it. Its just a simple Giraffe Teether, but for some reason I find myself very attached to finding one. Every time I've checked stores for it, it has been sold out. Some day, I'll walk into the store and there it will be!

Sneaker Socks!!!! So, there is not much to say here. They are just super cute!!!!

Our Trip to Jersey.....

This last weekend we went to Jersey for a baby shower - where I received many adorable gifts - thank you everyone that attended. We also had some other fun as well. The men/boys all went to a couple of soccer games while we were at the baby shower, and Matt got some great pictures!

Below is a couple baby shower pictures, my 20 week pictures and soccer pictures!!!!

The Baby is Kicking!!!

So, over the past week I've noticed a huge increase in the activity of the baby. I used to be able to notice a slight movement, if I was laying down perfectly still and concentrating on the baby. Now, I can feel the baby moving in just about any position that I'm in. (Just as a side note, the picture is not my belly, just a stock image I got off the internet)

He is most active at night, after dinner. I can feel him pretty regularly now, and he is getting a few strong kicks in here and there. He has even made me jump a few times with some super strong kicks.

I had my 5 month check up this week and everything is still going really well. The doctor doesn't have any concerns right now, and always says that we are right on track with my weight gain and belly size. At the last ultrasound we found out that our little baby boy is slightly larger then the normal size, but right on track when it comes to developing.

The average baby at the time of our ultrasound should have been between 7 and 8 ounces, while little Mr. Facas was 10 ounces - so he is heading slightly ahead in his weight class. This makes me feel a little better about my own weight gain, plus the fact that I have a pretty good idea that due to both Matt and I's size, the baby is going to be a little larger then average anyway.

I Had No Idea...

So, I find myself constantly saying the words "I had no idea that was a pregnancy symptom", so I decided to write about a few of the things that I have been experiencing that I had no idea existed as a pregnancy symptom.

One: Dry Eyes. A couple of weeks ago, I found myself always taking my contacts out because my eyes were bothering me. I assumed it was due to lack of sleep, the fans always blowing in the house, allergies maybe - but then one day I received a "pregnancy update" email title "Do you have dry eyes?" From this email I learned that not only can your eyes get very irritated but that your vision can actually change, who knew?

Two: Baby Brain. So I officially feel dumb, the majority of the time now. I am constantly interchanging words/sentences for their opposite meaning. An example would be: Matt would you let the cat in? What I would really mean is: Matt will you let the dog out? This is a simple example, but in real life this gets complicated very quickly. I also find myself constantly walking to the wrong thing. For some reason I tend to open the silver ware drawer, when I want something from the fridge. Or open up the plate cabinet, to get a glass - I know where all these items are, its just that my body doesn't do what my mind is thinking. This is an actual symptom of pregnancy, who knew?

Three: Stuffy Nose. So this is also another email update that I received. I had once again - decided that my unexpected runny/stuffy nose was allergies. Oh no, its a pregnancy symptom! The list really is endless I think.

Despite all the symptoms I find myself enjoying the pregnancy now that I'm getting a little larger, and as people notice. I enjoy feeling the baby move, and talking to him. I am very grateful that my pregnancy has gotten a lot better the last couple weeks or so...knock on wood.

Were Having a BOY!!!!!!

So today, September 14th, at 9:30 am, Matt and I both found out that Baby Facas is a BOY!!!! I couldn't be happier with the news.

We still are undecided about a name. We have several in the running, but not a definite name chosen yet. Our top two choices are, Vincent Montgomery Facas and James Austin Facas. But who knows what we will end up with.

Below is one of the ultra sound pictures. They gave us a million different ones, but Matt and I didn't feel as if they all needed to be posted. The majority are of different body parts; legs, arms, heart, brain, hands, feet....etc. So we just decided to post one profile shot.

On Another note, I'm very relieved that we finally know that were having a boy. I have been doing some random internet searches trying to get ideas for room decor, bedding sets etc. and had a boy room picked out for quite-a-while now. If we would have had a girl, I have no idea what we would have done. Below is a picture of what I'm hoping to achieve. I LOVE the choo-choo train shelf, and the bedding. We will be getting a slightly different crib, but I really loved the blue colors they choose. I am also going to put a decal on the wall that is a black chalkboard of a world map, and draw train tracks etc. on it, to tie the whole room together.

Waiting to find out.....

So Matt and I officially find out the sex of the baby in 6 days! I honestly can't wait, and have been looking forward to this appointment since we found out that we were having a baby.

I am 50/50 on whether I want a boy or a girl. Originally I wanted a girl, and would still be ecstatic if we found out baby Facas is a girl, but I would also be equally excited if we have a boy. I honestly just want to know what were having, and to know that the baby is healthy.

My appointment is at 9:30 am on Monday, September 14th - and I will be posting about the doctors visit soon after.

Oh, and don't forget to vote on the baby poll! The survey will close on Monday :)
